About Ethan

Ethan is an award-winning trumpeter and composer based in Northampton and London, UK. As a trumpeter he specialises in theatre, jazz, commercial and classical music and as a composer he works in the film and media composition space. ​

In July 2022 he graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance with a first class Bachelor of Music degree with honours in the trumpet. Whilst at TLCMD he was a Beatrice Taylor Scholar, a Wolfson Instrument Scholar and a semi-finalist in the Trinity Laban Soloists Competition. Ethan has studied with Andy Hendrie (BBC Symphony Orchestra), Paul Beniston (LPO), Anne McAneney (LPO) and William O’Sullivan (ENO), and participated in masterclasses, projects and lessons with Mike Lovatt, Stuart Brooks, Bob Farley, Antony Cross, Marco Blau, Russell de Vuyst and the Royal Scottish Guards.

Trumpeter

As a trumpeter Ethan has performed on stages around the world. With a wealth of experience under his belt, he has performed on touring productions, theatre shows, national stages, festivals and has been recorded on a variety of albums. Ethan has performed in iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, the Barbican, LSO St Luke’s, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Victoria Memorial (Buckingham Palace), Angel Studios, Disneyland LA and the Donmar Theatre amongst others. Over the years he has performed alongside musical stars Katherine Jenkins and Mike Lovatt, as well as performing as part of the London Film Music Orchestra (on their ‘ Best of Hans Zimmer and John Williams by Moonlight’ UK/Ireland tour), Babel Brass, the Ned Dylan Band (supporting the Zutons at the Swanbourne Music Festival), Giardino Strings and the Chipping Campden Festival Academy Orchestra, and a Jubilee band for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee on the Victoria Memorial.

Composer

As a composer Ethan has seen much success in the past few years, having been commissioned to score multiple films, tv and theatre projects, alongside releasing his own music. An award-winning composer Ethan has been lucky enough to have won Best Film at the 2025 GRAFTAS for the superhero project Vajra he was composer for, tackling themes of mental health, and the A Night of Misfit Films 2023 Choice Award at the Fantasy Film Festival in Paris 2023 for his short film Terra Firma co-created with animator Dean De Barros. His credits stretch across film (Vajra, Missed Contact, From Darkness to Light and Among the Stars: Terra Firma), TV (Second Chances), Theatre (East Lab Dance Company’s Arts Council England funded touring dance work Frocks, Socks, and the Orange Fox) and standalone albums and EPs (his audio-visual album Among the Stars, his motorsports themed EP Revolution, Solstice and Duet). He has studied with Adam Saunders, Guy Harries, Matthew Regan, Kit Massey and Philip Colman.

Youth Music NextGen Funded Artist

In January 2026 Ethan received funding from Youth Music through their NextGen grant for his “Among Strange Worlds: An Audio-Visual Album“. The project will run through 2026, into 2027 at which point the project will have it’s world premiere at a venue in Northamptonshire, UK. The album will be an 8-track immersive cinematic, story-driven, album and the project will include a short film scored by Ethan and animated by Dean de Barros. Find out more at the link below.
